Critical Care Medicine

Critical care medicine is a division of medicine concerned with the condition of life support or organ support systems in patients who are seriously sick and who usually necessitate intensive monitoring. Critical care medicine has been adept informally for many decades in trauma centers, post anesthesia revival rooms, delivery rooms, emergency rooms, coronary care units, and postoperative areas. The services and trained personnel available in the intensive care unit (ICU) authorize extensive monitoring of physiological variables, multidisciplinary diagnostic, organization of complex, and therapeutic plans, administration of therapy to predetermined goals, and professional nursing care.
