The division of medicine that dealing with evaluation and initial treatment of medical conditions caused by trauma or sudden illness. Also it's the medical specialty that comprises the instant decision making and action necessary to prevent death or further disability under emergency conditions. It is supports primarily in hospital emergency departments, but with widespread responsibilities for supervising emergency medical systems outside the hospital. Emergency medicine focuses on diagnosis and treatment of severe sicknesses and injuries that need immediate medical attention. While not usually providing long-term or continuous care, emergency medicine doctors and paramedics still provide care with the aim of improving long-term patient outcome.
