Personality Disorders
Personality DisordersMost personality disorders are connected with disorders in personal development and character which peak during teenage years and are then defined as personality problems. Children and adolescents with a personality disorder have great complexity dealing with others. They tend to be inflexible, rigid, with insufficient response to the changes and demands of life. They have a narrow view of the world and find it hard to contribute in social activities. There are many formally recognized personality disorders, each with its own kinds of connected behaviors. Most PDs, however, fall into 3 distinct categories or clusters, namely: cluster A, which contains disorders characterized by odd or eccentric behavior; cluster B, which contains disorders marked by spectacular, emotional or erratic behavior; and cluster C, which contains disorders accompanied by nervous and fearful behavior. |
