Respiratory TherapyRespiratory Therapy describe as the treatment or management of sensitive and chronic breathing problems, as through the use of respirators or the administration of medicine in aerosol form. Respiratory therapy is classified as an associated health profession in the US and Canada. Respiratory therapists (RTs), also called as Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP), specialize in the assessment and treatment of respiratory and cardiovascular pathologies. These include chronic lung problems such as asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, or COPD, and more sensitive multi-systemic disorders stemming from other pathological conditions such as heart attacks, trauma, stroke as well as complications at birth. Respiratory Therapist is specialists in airway management, mechanical ventilation, blood acid/base balance, and critical care medicine. RTs work directly with other medical disciplines such as nurses, physicians, speech therapists and physical therapists etc. |
